Convert a proposal to an invoice
Available on Starter plans and up.
The moment a proposal comes back Accepted, a green Convert to Invoice button appears on it. One click and the billing starts.
What conversion does
- Creates a new invoice with the next number in your invoice sequence
- Copies every line item — descriptions, quantities, prices — exactly as accepted
- Carries over the client and, if the proposal was linked to a project, the project link too
- Creates the invoice as a Draft, so you can adjust before sending (add a deposit line, split billing, tweak the due date)
The proposal itself is untouched — it remains your accepted, signed record. In place of the convert button you'll see an Invoice Created chip linking to the new invoice, so the paper trail runs both ways.
One conversion per proposal
A proposal converts once. If you need to bill an accepted job in stages, convert it, then create additional invoices normally — the proposal stays your source of truth for what was agreed.
Plan limit note
Conversion creates a real invoice, so it counts toward the Free plan's monthly invoice allowance like any other. (Proposals themselves require Starter or above, which has unlimited invoices — this only matters if your plan changes.)
The full journey
- Create the proposal → 2. Send and get it signed → 3. Convert to invoice → 4. Send the invoice → 5. Get paid.
